COURSE OVERVIEW

Whether you are a game developer, designer or producer who would like to localize their game, or just somebody interested in what it takes to make a project ready for localization, this comprehensive course is here to help.

Throughout this course you will learn what steps the development team can take to make localization relatively painless and convenient for every party involved, both at the start and in the middle of development. Over the span of several concise and informative lectures we will talk about properly storing and exporting text databases, avoiding common localization pitfalls (such as non-flexible user interface or hardcoding of language-specific features), translation quality assurance, cultural adaptation and more.

WHO BENEFITS MOST?

Anyone who suddenly found themselves in charge of localization. In many teams and companies that start localizing their first project, the localization function could be delegated more or less randomly. This course will help you understand what is actually going on and how to handle the tasks that your managers want to be handled quickly and efficiently.

Game designers and writers. You will learn what to consider and how to create content in the way that it is ready for localization – meaning fewer questions from the localizers and less time spent on amending and recreating something that doesn’t work in other languages.

Producers. If your team doesn’t have a dedicated localization manager and the related tasks fall into your area of responsibility, this course will give you a better understanding of the practices worth implementing in the production pipeline to achieve higher quality of the final product with less hassle.

Developers, including indie. You will get a glimpse into the localization process from the localization team’s point of view. This may help you adapt some of your development practices and communicate better with the localization team, so that your game can achieve international success.
